SUMMARY:Juneteenth Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a morning walk as we celebrate Juneteenth! We will start at the playground in Wheeler Park\, located in a historically Black neighborhood and named after Ann Arbor’s first Black mayor\, Albert Wheeler. \nWe will walk around the park to learn some of the history of the park and then head across the street to Bluffs Nature Area to explore. Everyone and all ages are welcome. Bring binoculars if you have them. We will have extra pairs if you need some. \nDirections: Meet at Wheeler Park playground\, 200 Depot Street\, Ann Arbor \nLeader: Victor Chen \n  \nAll are welcome and encouraged to join us. New to birding? Bird curious? No binoculars? No problem! There is no better way to learn than to get out in the field with experienced birders that love to help. Searles Nature Preserve is a 50 acre natural area that hosts the headwaters of Stony Creek. Did you also know that Ninety-seven percent of North American landbirds require animal\, primarily insect\, protein to raise their young? Most insects require specific\, native\, host plants for successful reproduction and this is why supporting a biodiverse ecosystem of native plants is so important.
